VEXIERS are games of patience that only work if we allow for unexpected solutions. In Brigitte Dunkel’s site-specific multimedia installation TABLESCAPES at Kunstverein Leverkusen, these are found in sculptural displays and digital photographic works, video installations and textile objects, drawings, paintings and more. In a metaphorical sense, they are the key to Dunkel’s artistic thinking, which has been centered on questioning normative modes of representation and conceptualisations of the feminine for a good ten years: THE POWDER ROOM PROJECT.
